I couldn’t decide on a tune of the week so I opted for a full ep of the week from an artist who goes by the name of Something Anorak, who in little over a year of living in Bristol has been working at an extremely prolific rate releasing 3 eps via his bandcamp site, all of which have recorded in his bedroom.
Vacation is his latest offering of down beat lo-fi pop, that draws on comparisons to the likes of Jeff Buckley, Bright Eyes, Sparklehorse winning over fans with his beautiful lyrical poise that draws the listener in.
Right from the off the ears are hit with a touch tone sensitivity with his dream like drowsy guitars and fragile voice that feels like as if he could break at any moment. there is something almost Icelandic about the production Something Anorak uses, the sonic the use of space and the sparse nature of his songwriting can almost instantly draw a line of comparison with Kings of Convenience.
He has the amazing ability to make time stand still as his voice gently cries out at points emphasising the beauty of his delicate fragile nature that flow freely between the songs. its beautiful and a very profound listening experience!
