Ok i just stumbled across this beautiful piece of lofi indie curtousy of Wolf Alice, one of many youtube finds from this year its short beautiful fuzzy piece of lofi indie that calls upon the psychedelia of 60s acts like the Byrds and a later days Beatles when they started to really play around with the hedonistic Acid.
Wolf Alice are very much a band hot off the press, in fact they are so hot off the press that little is known about them and they haven’t even properly released their first ep yet. all there is for this band is number of videos a recording u p on soundcloud and a Facebook page other then that there is nothing completely nada
From the off they have the fuzz sounding guitars that play along with reverb soaked vocals that sound hypnotic Along with the 60’s sonic references you can also hear elements of early Creation Records from circa 92. It’s clear that the London-based outfit do the sort of production that is seen a being fashionable rights at this very moment. But you do get the sense that they probably don’t care whether is is fashionable or not. Its the sort of reverb drenching that brings back lazy memories and trippy atmospherics.
The whole boy girls vocals sound playfully recorded on cassette sounding noise, its almost like as if they are kind of semi copying the likes of Tame Impala. I don’t know if it is just me but there seems a real hankering for lofi recordings. With Tessle Man you could say that there was probably Jesus Lizard floating around in this vicinity when they were recording this track.
I very much suspect we will be hearing from this band in 2013 and they will probably be popping up left right and center on the gig going circuit. or at least one hopes as they show a lot of potential!
