Woodpecker Wooliams – Gull

Today I came across the video for the new Woodpecker Wooliams single called Gull in my many exspansive twitter feeds. The ether of the internet is a vast and interesting space esepcially with the development of social networking sites liike Twitter and facebook. so I litterally hold my hands up in the air and admit I dont know much about this artist.

There are nods towards Joanna Newsome and Paloma Faith as she (I’m guessing its just one person) manages to mix the lines of ecentric pop noir and fragile folk together. Mixing plucked harp strings with casette recorded fedd backing beats giving her a kind of lofi feel with lyrics that reminice about childish dreams.

About bigjeffbristol

I am someone from Bristol in England who is deeply obsessed with live music! its pretty much like an OCD styled obsession that means pretty much every night I am out. I like being down the fron for shows, because then I can feel the music pulsing through me and I am not going to lie to you, I like to dance a lot. Which can make me at times incredibly annoying because of being 6ft4 tall with blonde curly locks so I am the Thoroughly Annoying Blonde!. and I like to preach my geeky musical inertia to people!

Hi Jeff, I came across Woodpecker Wooliams on a radio show called Simple Folk Radio. They’re based over in Brighton and have a lot of guest appearances on their show of like the likes of Jeffrey Lewis, Kimya Dawson, James Yorkston, Phosphorescent… I could go on. Check them out !
