one of the acts i can see making a big name for himself in the next 12months or so is Marques Toliver.
Evry once in a whle I will come across an artist or singer songwriter that will more then stop me, but completely nock me off my perch as music fan.

something so beauftiful that i find myself not being able to really enjoy anything else for the rest of he day. This is exactley how Marques Toliver made me feel when i saw him at Truck festival in the summer.

He was someone who I had kind of seen his name aroud without really knowing anything about him, I was kind of expecting the typical one man and his guitar doing middle of the road sub twee folk music, oh so wrong I was!

From the off i could feel myself being taken on one big long adventure, with one man, his fiddle, bass drum and auto harp. it was like as if he was reminding us that this is what real feelings and emotions in music should sound like as every ailing cry resonated within me.  

He creates a sound that effortlessly fuses together soul and folk in a beautifully dynamic way. Its kind of like taking the best bits of acts like Animal Collective ad Grizzly Bear and inter weaving them with the musical ability of Final Fantasy and silky almost al Green style vocal that kind of sounds honey wrapped together.

Actually he was spotted busking on the streets of  New york apparently, although dont quote on this! (if anyone out there can correct me then plaese do!) by Grizzly Bear. he has also apparently recorded and played live with TV on The Radio.

Its the kind of thing where his honey toned voice is sweet without loosing any feeling or emotion.  He shows a magical ability that will leave people floundering for words. Its almost like as if here he wants to lead people to see the things in his music visually.

For me he is one of the most exciting soul artists around! i think that hs 2012 debut lp will be one of the most heavily anticipated releases for me, if not for anyone else!
